The most common question we get about our boxes is which one to order first. The answer depends on three things: how many people you are feeding, how much freezer space you have, and how much you want to spend upfront. Here is a simple guide.
Household of One or Two
Start with the Grilling Intro Box ($99) or the Cowpoke Special ($144.94). Both give you a solid cross-section of cuts without committing to a freezer full of beef you may not get through before the quality window closes. Vacuum-sealed beef at 0°F is safe indefinitely, but quality is best within 12 months. A smaller box matches a smaller household's consumption rate.
If you know you want ground beef in volume, the ground beef option in the mid-range lineup may be a better starting point than a mixed steak box.
Household of Three to Four
The Ranch Hand Box ($279) or The Ocho ($499) are the right size range. The Ranch Hand gives you a balanced mix at a mid-range price — good for a household that eats varied cuts throughout the week. The Ocho is the step up — more volume, more variety, designed to be a three-to-four month supply for an average family.
If your household skews heavily toward steak, the Ultimate Steak Experience ($329) is a better fit than the Ranch Hand.
Household of Five or More
The Foreman ($1,199) or Cattle Baron ($2,799) are built for large households or households that want to minimize reordering. Both provide enough beef to last a large family six months to over a year depending on consumption habits. At this price range, buying once and cooking repeatedly is the model.
Alternatively, a Quarter Cow or Half Cow is worth considering — these are custom-processed bulk orders that typically yield lower cost per pound than any pre-built box.
Freezer Space Reality Check
A good rule of thumb: one cubic foot of freezer space holds approximately 35 pounds of packaged, vacuum-sealed beef. Before ordering a large box, measure your available freezer space.
- Grilling Intro Box: fits in a standard refrigerator freezer drawer
- The Ocho: needs 10–15 cubic feet depending on existing freezer contents
- The Foreman / Cattle Baron: requires a dedicated chest or upright freezer
