We carry one chicken product: Premium Ground Chicken (1 lb, $7.99). It is here because not every meal calls for beef, and ground chicken is one of the most versatile and underused proteins available.
What Ground Chicken Does Well
Ground chicken is lean, neutral in flavor, and absorbs seasoning and sauce more aggressively than ground beef. This is not a limitation — it is what makes it the right choice for applications where the spice profile, the sauce, or the aromatics are meant to carry the dish.
A Thai basil stir fry built on ground beef has the beef competing with the fish sauce, oyster sauce, and chilies. The same dish built on ground chicken lets the seasoning come through clearly, which is exactly how the dish is meant to taste. Ground chicken is a vehicle for flavor. Ground beef is a flavor in itself.
How It Behaves Differently from Ground Beef
Ground chicken has less fat than 80/20 ground beef and significantly less than fatty ground blends. This affects two things: it dries out faster if overcooked, and it produces less fond in the pan (the browned bits that form the base of a pan sauce). The practical adjustments are small — slightly lower heat, pull it off the heat the moment it is cooked through at 165°F, and always add fat to the pan before the chicken goes in.
Best Applications
- Stir fry — Thai basil, Korean-style, or any high-heat wok application where you want the sauce to dominate
- Lettuce wraps — ground chicken with hoisin, water chestnuts, and green onion in butter lettuce cups is one of the best quick dinners in the rotation
- Taco filling — seasoned with cumin and chipotle, ground chicken in corn tortillas with bright toppings works well
- Meatballs — Italian-style ground chicken meatballs in marinara have a lighter texture than beef
- Breakfast sausage patties — ground chicken seasoned with sage, fennel, and garlic presses into patties and cooks well on a cast iron
At $7.99/lb — the same price as our 80/20 ground beef — it is a no-premium addition to an order. Pick it up in our Premium Chicken collection.
